What does AOV mean?
AOV stands for Automatic Opening Vent
How do AOV and smoke vents work?
AOVs are triggered by smoke detectors which signal to actuators to open the smoke vents. In the event of a fire the vent will open to a predetermined height and angle for optimal ventilation of smoke and heat.
How often should AOV be tested?
To conform to BS7346, BS558 and EN12101 smoke vents need to be serviced and maintained once a year. We recommend regular servicing by a qualified professional on a regular basis.
How does a smoke vent work?
Smoke vents are openings such as windows or skylights that allow for the smoke and hot air to escape. AOV (automatic opening vent) are vents that open automatically when an outbreak of fire is detected.
How does an AOV system work?
Automatic opening vents control the ventilation of the building. Any smoke and heat will be taken into the ventilation system and discarded of in a safe location. When a detector is triggered the AOV system will open and create ventilation through the system.
